XCEL Trackdays Now Featuring Jake Holden Riders Clinic

Jake Holden Riders Clinic is now available at select XCEL Trackdays events. The clinic accepts a maximum of two students per day, ensuring riders receive individualized training and support. This full trackday clinic also includes bike set-up and suspension help from Evan Steel Performance (ESP), a Pro AMA race team.

Students receive a full day of personalized advice, filming, bike adjustments, and riding with Pro Racer Jake Holden. At the XCEL Trackdays, Holden’s focus is A and B group trackday riders or regional racers. Street riders, beginner trackday riders and Supermoto riders are encouraged to attend the Jake Holden Rider Clinic held at the Mussleman Honda Circuit in Tucson AZ.

Monster Energy’s Garrett Gerloff Wins AMA Debut

Yamaha recently confirmed that Garrett Gerloff will join Cameron Beaubier in 2012 racing Yamaha Extended Service, YZF-R6s in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class. Gerloff had an impressive debut at the final round in New Jersey where he won his first ever AMA pro race he competed in.

Eleven teams, with riders from all corners of the country, raced under lights at Willow Springs Kart Track on September 11-12, 2011 in this fun, marathon event to benefit charitable causes.

Gary Mason on BSB Spec ECU in 2012

Gary Mason comments on the BSB change of rules to a spec Motec ECU for 2012 from Round 8 of the 2011 MCE British Superbike Championship With Pirelli & BSB-EVO at Brands Hatch 5-7 August 2011. Gary raced in the AMA Championship in 2007 and some of 2008 where he raced Pirelli tires for the first time. Gary would love to take another stab at the AMA Superbike Championship and claims he has unfinished business on U.S. soil.

Ben Bostrom- “2012 Is Going To Be Gnarly”

Michael Jordan Motorsports has been recently announced that Ben Bostrom will return in the 2012 AMA Pro Racing National Guard Superbike championship on the Jordan Suzuki #23 bike. The team made huge strides through the season with Ben and teammate Roger Lee Hayden in developing the Suzuki GSX-R1000. By the end of the 2011 season both riders were consistently fighting for podium positions, and even the top of the box. Ben promises that “2012 is going to be gnarly”, as both sides of the Jordan Suzuki tent will be gunning for the championship.

The next three videos from the archives are from or first encounters with the incredibly likeable, humble, and talented Martin Cardenas. The 2010 Daytona Sportbike Champion is making headlines with a surprise move back to the class after a successful season in the premier superbike class in 2011. Martin rode in the Superbike class for the first part his rookie year in the AMA championship in 2007. He gained the attention of Team Hammer’s John Ulrich by finishing near the top ten on a privateer Kawasaki. He later joined the squad to fill in for an injured rider, and has been with the team ever since.

From the archives:In 2009 KWS Motorsports fielded the Aprilia Factory effort in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike class with riders Chaz Davies, Ben Thompson and then Aaron Gobert. The team took the Aprilia RSV1000R to the competition in the class with impressive results for an largely undeveloped bike with 10 year old technology. KWS Technician Michael Godin drops some knowledge on us from his experience in working with the bike.

Dane Westby’s First Daytona Sportbike Win

Dane Westby and crew chief Chuck Giacchetto were itching to work with each other since 2008 when Dane showed promise on a clapped out race bike he borrowed. The two hooked up full time in 2009 and have been together ever since. Dane took a second place in the Daytona 200 in 2010 with Project 1 Atlanta, but a win in the ultra competitive class has eluded he and his team until the Mid-Ohio round this year when he won with his M4 Suzuki squad. The win was a huge boost for Dane who says he has felt like somewhat of a second tier rider in a class that often sees first place battles running 8-10 riders deep.

Melissa Paris’ 2011 AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Team was powered by HT Moto Custom Seats & Traction. In this segment we get up to speed with Melissa at the final round at New Jersey Motorsports Park as she gets her mind up to speed by pedaling some laps around the circuit before she takes her Yamaha YZF-R6 out to stretch its legs. Her bike sports an HT Moto seat pad and traction pads on the tank that help her grip the bike in corners, reducing upper body fatigue during the extent of a race.

STAR School National Guard- Suspension Set-Up

Dave Moss helps a member of the National Guard with a baseline setup at Jason Pridmore’s STAR School program, specifically designed for members of the National Guard. While suspension tuning is no band-aid for poor riding technique, a decent baseline set-up can give the rider confidence in their bike. Michael Jordan Motorsports suspension technician Chris west and National Guard Jordan Suzuki chassis mechanic Francois Demartini demonstrate the importance and the extent of suspension tuning in the top level of AMA Supebike racing for Roger Hayden and Ben Bostrom.
