Mat Mladin raced 13 of his 14 AMA Superbike seasons with Yoshimura Suzuki. The team's den mother, Rich Doan, gave us a tour of the Yosh shop during which he made a startling confession. Yosh sucked once upon a time, like a century ago. We were utterly stunned by this news.
So much space, yet shrewd efficiencies running several Suzuki teams under the one roof. I thought the entrance bit was it at first! ;-)I was just blown way by their machine shop, - I've never seen so much tooling equipment in a race shop before.
Thanks for that Dave, it was brilliant.

Agree brilliant interview.
I'm left with the suspense of part 2 of the interview. I don't want the ringing of "We Sucked" to stay in my head for much longer. = ]

Many folks dont remember that Honda used to bring over thier top of the line superbikes from HRC/Japan to race in AMA, BSB, & WSB; fully developed and ready to win. Yosh was basically a privateer shop with Am. Suzuki backing to go race. RRW is always showing old photos of the old way 'Pops' Yoshimura and his family working race bikes. To grow to be as successful as they have become is a testament to thier hard work.
